These are great little ties, but check the size before buying. The Amazon page I got them from shows them securing items around fence posts and telephone poles, and these are less than 6 inches long. You'd have to use ten of them to get around a telephone pole, and 2 or 3 to get around a fence post. I use them for an application where they are long enough, so they are great for me, but I didn't even think about the length when I ordered. If I expected them to work as shown in the photos, I would be very disappointed. Anyway, these are smooth stainless steel. They are bigger in diameter than a typical broom handle but smaller than or right at the size of a typical shovel handle. The edges are not sharp, but they are thin, and I'd be worried that they would cut into soft objects over time or insulation on wiring if pulled very tight. The thin profile and silver color will look much better than thicker black or white ties in many applications. Because they have no stretch, they might not grip as well on hard objects - you might want to put a thin layer of rubber like a piece of inner tube under them for application like holding a metal piece against another metal piece to prevent sliding. They won't give at all, so when using on breakable or crushable items you might want some kind of stress relief. I'm glad to have these in my tool box, they are like tiny hose clamps but slimmer and nicer looking. For applications where plastic cable ties deteriorate under UV light - outdoors in the intense Florida or Texas sunshine for example - these would be a much better choice. These would make great seals for electrical device boxes, which is how I will use them, in place of a padlock.
